A few weeks ago, ChronoLogic attended the Binance Hackathon where we won a prize for creating the smart contract proxy wallet!

Binance Hackathon, a three-week virtual hackathon hosted by Binance X and Gitcoin started February 1, 2021. The primary task was to build the next generation of projects featuring cross-chain compatibility with Binance Smart Chain. It was one of the year’s most anticipated blockchain and crypto events and also an amazing opportunity for the ChronoLogic team to showcase skills and creativity.

You may recall that earlier this year we published a case study where we presented our initial idea of SUITCASE, the smart contract wallet with the capability of selling its ownership. There were a lot of different ideas kicking around as to how this wallet could be used, and we came up with some of the use cases among which the possibility of Binance Smart Chain integration was also discussed.

But before we continue, let’s backtrack a little and go into why we participated and how we came about developing our solution.

We spent quite a lot of time brainstorming and shaping our idea of how a smart contract can be put up for sale and its ownership transferred to a new owner in a secure and trustless way. We also wanted to introduce the idea of vested tokens that can be sold before they are officially released. Having these issues in mind, our idea was to build a proxy wallet that will provide users with the functionality of buying and selling token allocations without relying on expensive middlemen. The solution would also help users transfer ownership of the smart contract whenever they are dealing with crypto loans or even mortgages on the blockchain.

Once word got out about the Binance Hackathon, we realized that our solution was not confined to the use of Ethereum blockchain only and we can present this idea in front of the judges from Binance X and its partners.

The first step in implementation was made by one of our lead developers Piotr Kosiński who developed a logic for selling a smart contract, and the rest of the functionality was built on top of it by ChronoLogic’s tech lead Marcin Żółkiewski, who was also responsible for providing sufficient documentation to use the submission.

One of the requirements of the hackathon was to provide a short demo video to help the judges understand and get excited about the idea, and we believe our motion designer Andrey Drozdov did a great job on that as well!

We were up against some pretty stiff competition — and BOOM! It happened! We have just learned that we won a prize🏆. We’re beyond happy to have been recognized, especially since the turnout at the hackathon was quite overwhelming.

It is very appreciated to gain visibility and legitimacy through this kind of event dedicated to Binance Smart Chain development and it will definitely allow us to build future collaborations with the members of this growing ecosystem.
